Join us on Saturday, May 16 for a practical, hands-on day focused on helping you prepare your boat and safety equipment for the season ahead.
Morning Session
10:00am – 11:30am
Inflatable Lifejacket Inspection & Re-arming
Bring your inflatable lifejacket and join us as we walk through how to inspect, re-arm, and repack it properly.
We’ll cover:
- Checking expiry dates and components
- Inspecting cylinders and firing mechanisms
- Proper repacking techniques
- Common issues to watch for before heading out on the water
Whether you’re new to inflatable lifejackets or just want a refresher before launch season, this session is designed to help you feel confident your gear is ready when you need it most.
Afternoon Session
2:00pm – 3:30pm
Vessel Safety Equipment Review
In the afternoon, we’ll review the safety equipment required aboard your vessel under Transport Canada regulations.
We’ll also discuss additional equipment commonly required or recommended by offshore racing and cruising organizations including events such as the Lake Ontario 300.
Topics include:
- Required onboard safety equipment
- Flares, sound signalling devices, and fire extinguishers
- Safety harnesses and tethers
- Offshore and racing safety considerations
- Practical tips for organizing and maintaining onboard gear

This year we will not be accepting expired flares during Safety Day.
Due to budget cuts affecting participating agencies, flare collection will not be available as part of this year’s event.
